On an annual basis and as needed, the City of Davis prepares a Program of Projects (POP) that forms the basis for grant applications submitted to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for funding. The City submits and executes grant applications and agreements, and then passes funds through to Unitrans through a sub-recipient agreement. FTA regulatory guidance requires the City to make the proposed POP available for public review and comment prior to its approval by the City Council. All comments made on the POP by the deadline will be summarized and provided to the City Council when it reviews and takes action on September 17, 2024. Click here for the full proposed funding plan.
The deadline for submitting comments on the proposed POP is Monday, September 9, 2024. The City and Unitrans welcome all comments from the general public and providers of other transportation services on this proposed program of projects in the most convenient format available. The most common ways in which to submit comments include the following:
1) Send an email message with the subject “Program of Projects” to comments@unitrans.ucdavis.edu
2) Send a letter addressed to Unitrans ATTN: AGMA, 1 Shields Ave, South Hall Room 5, Davis, CA 95616
3) Attend a public hearing on the Program of Projects at the City of Davis Transportation Commission meeting to be held on Monday, September 9, 2024 at 6pm at the City Council Chambers, 23 Russell Blvd, Davis, CA 95616.
To receive a copy of this notice in another language or alternative formats at no cost, please contact Unitrans by sending an email message to comments@unitrans.ucdavis.edu or by calling Unitrans at (530) 752-2877.

We’ve heard you loud and clear that you want the convenience of having your Unitrans and Yolobus bus pass on your phone! Starting Summer Session II, ASUCD Unitrans is introducing a new mobile bus pass option on the ZipPass app for undergraduate students!
On Wednesday, August 14, Unitrans will be sending out email notifications to undergraduates registered for Summer Session II classes announcing that your mobile bus pass is ready to use. Download the ZipPass app once you receive the notification, register with your @ucdavis.edu email, and you’ll be ready to use your new mobile bus pass!
This new convenience will make riding Unitrans and Yolobus to and from campus easier. You may also still use your physical undergraduate AggieCard to ride. For all undergraduates registered for fall classes but not Summer Session II, ZipPass access will be added a week before fall quarter classes begin.
To use your mobile UC Davis undergraduate bus pass:
Wait for the email notification from Unitrans (noreply@bytemark.co) informing you that your bus pass is ready! You’ll receive this email by the second week of Summer Session 2. The email subject will read "Get your Unitrans tickets with Bytemark!"
Download the free ZipPass app from the Apple Store or Google Play.
Set up your account using your UC Davis email account (must be your @ucdavis.edu account to use this mobile bus pass).
Once your account is set up, click on the “Available” tab at the top of the ZipPass screen and click on the Undergrad Pass to use! Just show the driver or conductor your pass when boarding and you’re ready to ride! You may be asked to tap your screen to ensure validity.

Unitrans requires all customers to show the driver your valid bus pass, your undergraduate AggieCard, or pay the cash fare. Passes and fares directly support over 60% of Unitrans daily service. Unitrans is not free at the bus terminals and trusts our customers to pay their fare to ride even when the driver is not present. Accepted passes and fares are detailed below.
Unitrans may operate fare-free up to 15 days per year on declared Spare the Air days by sparetheair.com or Excessive Heat Warnings as defined by the National Weather Service. Additional days could be considered pending funding availability. Fare-free service is also operated on UC Davis finals week each quarter.
According to the National Weather Service, an "Excessive Heat Warning is issued within 12 hours of the onset of extremely dangerous heat conditions. The general rule of thumb for this Warning is when the maximum heat index temperature is expected to be 105° or higher for at least 2 days and night time air temperatures will not drop below 75°; however, these criteria vary across the country, especially for areas not used to extreme heat conditions."
Up to two children under the age of five ride free per one fare paying adult. Exact fare only. Drivers carry no change. No refunds. Need to transfer to another line to complete your trip? Ask for a transfer slip! Your fare payment entitles you to ride for one-hour.
