On an annual basis and as needed, the City of Davis prepares a Program of Projects (POP) that forms the basis for grant applications submitted to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for funding. The City submits and executes grant applications and agreements, and then passes funds through to Unitrans through a sub-recipient agreement. FTA regulatory guidance requires the City to make the proposed POP available for public review and comment prior to its approval by the City Council. All comments made on the POP by the deadline will be summarized and provided to the City Council when it reviews and takes action. Click here for the full proposed funding plan.
The deadline for submitting comments on the proposed POP is Thursday, January 25, 2024. The City and Unitrans welcome all comments from the general public and providers of other transportation services on this proposed program of projects in the most convenient format available. The most common ways in which to submit comments include the following:
1) Send an email message with the subject “Program of Projects” to comments@unitrans.ucdavis.edu
2) Send a letter addressed to Unitrans ATTN: AGMA, 1 Shields Ave, South Hall Room 5, Davis, CA 95616
3) Attend a public hearing on the Program of Projects at the Unitrans Advisory Committee meeting to be held on Thursday, January 25, 2022 at 4pm at the Davis Senior Center, 646 A Street, Davis, CA 95616

Unitrans and the Davis Food Co-op are proud to host the “Stuff the Bus” holiday food drive to support the ASUCD Pantry, a student-led organization that provides food to UC Davis students struggling to pay for meals and other essentials. A vintage Unitrans London double decker bus will be on display at the Davis Food Co-op and volunteers will be receiving community food donations on Saturday, December 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Davis Food Co-op located at 620 G Street in Davis. The first 50 donors will receive a $10 off coupon for the Davis Food Co-op and a free 10-ride Unitrans ticket. Click here for info flyer!
All donations received will be delivered to The Pantry to assist those in need in our campus and city community. Needed items include new, unused toiletries and hygiene products like soaps and shampoos and food items such as easy grab and go snacks, canned ready to eat meals, cooking utensils, peanut butter and jams, gluten free grains like quinoa, baby formula, canned fruit, whole grain pasta, rice, canned or dry beans, and similar items.
Attention T line riders and parents! Due to roadway related delays, the T line morning bus schedule will be updated to operate 10 minutes EARLIER to get the students to school on-time starting Monday, October 9. Please review the attached schedule update. The updated schedule will be in effect from Monday, October 9 until winter break. Please contact our office at 530-752-2877 or unitrans@ucdavis.edu with questions. Note that the late Wednesday morning trip will not change and there are no afternoon changes. Holmes Junior High students should consider the special morning P-Harper bus as an alternative.
Whether you ride daily, occasionally or haven’t tried transit yet, the Sacramento Area Council of Governments is looking for feedback on our area’s bus, dial-a-ride, paratransit and light rail transit services. SACOG accepts transit needs related comments from any area in the counties of Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba.
What are your thoughts on local transit service? Would you like to use it for more trips, but don’t because of issues like where it goes, the schedule or cost? Are there places you really need to go but cannot currently? Please give us your thoughts by participating in an Unmet Transit Needs community outreach even or public hearing or by relaying your comments to SACOG.
You can submit your comments online and find more information about the unmet transit needs process at Unmet Transit Needs - Sacramento Area Council of Governments (sacog.org). You can also provide comment via:

What Is a Tripper Bus?
Have you ever been passed by a "Not in Service" bus that wasn't completely full?
If so, then this bus stop was already served by a tripper bus. Tripper buses typically start picking up passengers at the scheduled time for inbound stops. Once the tripper starts, the regularly scheduled bus goes "Not in Service" and only drops off its current passengers. All stops are served only once and more closely to the printed schedule time than would occur if only one bus was operating on the route.
Tripper buses are regularly assigned on the A, G, J, W, and Z lines. It is best to rely on the printed schedule to avoid missing the bus, as bus tracking mobile applications may be less accurate due to two buses operating at once. We recommend that customers remain aware of the scheduled time when arriving at a bus stop and get to your stop 2-5 minutes BEFORE the scheduled arrival. If you see two arrival predictions that are close together, use the schedule time or the earlier prediction to plan your arrival time at the stop.
